Expo Gardens Work Schedule
Work nights at the Expo Center have been regularly scheduled for the second Wednesday and fourth Tuesday of each growing season month. Rain dates are the following evening. These dates are: June 8, June 28, July 13, July 26, August 10, August 23, September 14, and September 27. There is no "official" start or end time.
We are a volunteer organization, so your arrival and departure times are your own business. We appreciate whatever time you can offer your help. You keep track of your own time and you do not need to have anyone verify your hours. Remember, travel time to and from also counts as a part of your volunteer hours. Of course, if these dates don't fit your schedule, you may come to the Expo Center and wage war in the seemingly never-ending battle with weeds. Whatever weeds we pull just need to be piled up at the garden's border. Expo staff disposes of them.
We do have some exciting projects coming up for this year. We'll be planting “Trial Plants” from Chippewa Valley Growers. These are plants that are not available for sale to the public. They are still being "trialed" for future release. We also have plans for building a huge rain barrel system for using rainwater to nourish our gardens. Our composting area is also undergoing some renovation. Any help or expertise would be welcomed for these projects.
If there are any questions about working at the Expo Center, please email Rick at moenrick @ charter.net. The Expo Center Landscape Design Committee welcomes you! (You may also wish to join this committee - it's free and fun!).
