Volunteer Opportunities
Here are some upcoming volunteer opportunities.
#2) Altoona Parks & Recreation Department is looking for volunteers to teach classes for adults: Container Gardening, Perennial Gardening, and Beginning Vegetable Gardening.
If interested contact: Debra Goldbach, Recreation Director, Altoona Parks & Recreation Department, 1904 Spooner Ave, Altoona, WI 54720, 715-839-5188
These are the dates for the youth summer garden programs. Volunteers are needed during the sessions to interact with the youth. Also, we will need volunteers to monitor the gardens during the weekends to ensure they have adequate water.
Tuesdays at North River Front Park, June 21 - August 9, 2011, 9:00 - 10:00 AM
Wednesdays at McDonough Park, June 22 - August 10, 2011, 9:00 - 10:00 AM
NEW! Planting Dates: May 26th, 1:30PM at McDonough Park & 4:30PM at North River Front Park. Youth will be present.
#4) The Eau Claire Amazing Clean-up day is April 23, starting at 9am. I am forming a team to spread mulch at the two gardens at North River Front and McDonough Park. The Boys and Girls Club will send some youth that day too. My request from the ECMGVA is to bring wheelbarrows, pitchforks, and racks to help spread the mulch.
Please let me know if you are interested in attending any of these activities. ~Erin LaFaive
